The Yamaha YDP-166B is a new-generation ARIUS digital piano designed to provide an expressive and convincing piano experience for the home. Finished in Black with a traditional upright-style cabinet, it combines Yamaha's GrandTouch-E keyboard with the sound of the flagship Yamaha CFX concert grand piano.

The GrandTouch-E action features synthetic ebony and ivory keytops and escapement, providing a natural and responsive playing experience as technique develops. Yamaha's CFX piano sound is complemented by VRM Lite resonance modelling, while the 20W × 2 amplification and diffuser-equipped speaker system give the YDP-166 a rich, room-filling sound.

Who Is This Piano For?

GrandTouch-E Keyboard

A major feature of the new YDP-166 is Yamaha's GrandTouch-E keyboard.

The 88-key weighted action uses synthetic ebony and ivory key surfaces and incorporates escapement, helping provide a controlled and natural response across the keyboard.

Yamaha has designed the latest ARIUS action to reproduce a broad range of expression more smoothly, giving players greater control over subtle changes in touch and dynamics.

Yamaha CFX Concert Grand Sound

At the heart of the YDP-166 is a piano voice sampled from Yamaha's flagship CFX concert grand.

Designed to provide clarity and balance from the lower register through to the treble, the CFX voice gives developing and experienced pianists a detailed piano sound capable of responding expressively to their playing.

VRM Lite adds simulated sympathetic resonance, recreating some of the interaction between strings and the piano body that contributes to the character of an acoustic instrument.

With 192-note polyphony, there is plenty of capacity for sustained passages, layered playing and detailed pedal work.

Powerful 40W Speaker System

The YDP-166 uses 20W × 2 amplification driving two 12cm speakers.

Yamaha has also incorporated diffuser grilles into the latest ARIUS speaker system, designed to create a fuller and more focused sound across the piano's range.

This gives the YDP-166 considerably more presence than an entry-level digital piano and makes it well suited to becoming the main piano in a family living space.

Bluetooth & Smart Pianist

The latest ARIUS generation introduces Bluetooth connectivity, making the YDP-166 considerably easier to integrate with phones and tablets.

Bluetooth Audio allows music to be streamed wirelessly through the piano's speaker system, making it easy to play along with favourite tracks or other audio.

Bluetooth MIDI provides wireless communication with compatible music applications.

Yamaha's Smart Pianist app can also be used to select voices and adjust settings from a compatible smart device, as well as access useful practice and learning features.
