Description

The Yamaha P-525B is the flagship of Yamaha's P-Series, bringing a genuinely premium piano experience to a versatile portable format. Designed for accomplished pianists as well as players looking for a high-quality instrument for the home, studio or stage, it combines Yamaha's GrandTouch-S wooden-key keyboard with the distinctive sounds of two world-class concert grand pianos.

At its heart are the Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial piano Voices, supported by Virtual Resonance Modelling and Grand Expression Modelling to recreate far more than the basic sound of an acoustic piano. The P-525 responds to the way you play, reproducing subtle tonal variation and the complex resonances associated with a grand piano.

Despite this strong acoustic-piano focus, the P-525 is remarkably versatile. An extensive collection of additional Voices, 40 rhythms, Registration Memory, 16-track recording, Bluetooth Audio and MIDI, USB audio and comprehensive connectivity make it equally capable at home, in the studio or as a sophisticated performance instrument.

Who Is This For?

The P-525 is aimed at players who want a serious piano rather than simply a convenient portable keyboard.

Its GrandTouch-S wooden-key action and premium acoustic piano Voices make it particularly well suited to experienced pianists, advancing students and acoustic piano players who need a high-quality digital alternative. At the same time, its portable construction makes it attractive for musicians who don't want to commit to a permanent cabinet-style instrument.

The additional Voices, Registration Memory, audio outputs and performance functions also make the P-525 an unusually capable option for gigging musicians who want authentic piano touch without moving a full cabinet digital piano.

GrandTouch-S Wooden-Key Keyboard

The playing experience is one of the P-525's defining features. Its 88-note GrandTouch-S keyboard incorporates wooden white keys, synthetic ebony and ivory key surfaces and escapement.

This keyboard technology is also found within Yamaha's Clavinova range and is designed to reproduce the substantial, controlled response associated with a grand piano. Yamaha also uses the action to capture subtle differences in the speed and intensity of the player's touch, allowing greater tonal variation and expressive control.

Two World-Class Concert Grand Pianos

The P-525 gives you two distinctly different concert grand piano characters.

Yamaha's CFX offers a clear, powerful sound with sparkling upper registers and substantial bass, while the Bösendorfer Imperial provides a warmer tonal character associated with the Viennese piano tradition.

Having both available isn't simply about increasing the Voice count. It gives the pianist a meaningful choice of piano character to suit different repertoire and playing styles.

Grand Expression Modelling & Virtual Resonance Modelling

A grand piano changes considerably according to how it is played. Yamaha's Grand Expression Modelling is designed to reproduce tonal variation resulting from differences in the player's touch.

Virtual Resonance Modelling recreates the complex sympathetic interaction between elements including strings, dampers, the piano body and duplex scaling.

Together, these technologies help the P-525 behave more organically than an instrument simply triggering static piano samples.

Deep, Natural Sound

The P-525 uses a two-way speaker system powered by (20 W + 6 W) × 2 amplification.

Yamaha has angled the speakers towards the player and developed the speaker enclosures with flared bass reflex ports and sound-absorbing tubes to reduce unwanted noise. The P-525 also incorporates FIR filtering to help produce a natural listening experience both for the pianist and for other people in the room.

More Than an Acoustic Piano

Alongside its concert grand sounds, the P-525 includes improved electric piano, organ and other keyed-instrument Voices.

There are 44 main Voices, 18 Drum/SFX Kits and 480 XG Voices in total, together with 40 rhythms. Dual, Split and Duo modes provide further flexibility for performance, teaching and creative playing.

Designed for Performance Too

Registration Memory allows favourite combinations of Voices, rhythms and other settings to be stored and quickly recalled. Six registration buttons and four banks make this particularly useful when moving between sounds during a performance.

Sound Boost, adjustable EQ, dedicated audio outputs and traditional MIDI IN/OUT further strengthen the P-525's credentials as a premium stage instrument as well as a home piano. Yamaha specifically highlights its suitability for smaller live-performance settings.

Bluetooth & Smart Pianist

Built-in Bluetooth Audio allows music from a compatible smartphone or tablet to be played through the P-525's speaker system, making it easy to practise alongside favourite tracks.

Bluetooth MIDI can also provide wireless communication with Yamaha's Smart Pianist app, giving convenient access to many of the instrument's functions from a compatible smart device.
