Description

The Yamaha Clavinova CLP-835 brings the expressive touch, rich resonance and musical character of an acoustic grand piano into a beautifully designed digital instrument for the home.

At its heart is Yamaha's GrandTouch-S keyboard with synthetic ebony and ivory keytops and escapement, paired with the responsive GrandTouch pedal system. The celebrated Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial concert grand piano voices are enhanced by Grand Expression Modeling and Virtual Resonance Modeling, helping recreate the subtle tonal variations and natural resonance of an acoustic piano.

Finished here in contemporary White Birch, the CLP-835 combines elegant cabinet styling with 38 instrument voices, versatile recording features, Bluetooth connectivity and an upgraded 30W × 2 speaker system. It's an excellent choice for pianists who want authentic piano performance alongside the convenience and flexibility of modern digital technology.

Who Is This For?

The CLP-835 is an excellent choice for beginners, developing pianists and experienced players who want a responsive, expressive instrument that closely reflects the playing experience of an acoustic piano.

Its GrandTouch-S keyboard and concert grand piano sounds make it particularly appealing to students progressing through graded examinations, while the extended recording facilities, additional instrument voices and accompaniment rhythms offer creative possibilities for more experienced musicians.

The elegant White Birch cabinet also makes the CLP-835 a stylish addition to a contemporary living space, with headphone connectivity allowing quieter practice whenever required.

GrandTouch-S Keyboard

The CLP-835 features Yamaha's GrandTouch-S keyboard with 88 weighted keys, synthetic ebony and ivory keytops and escapement.

Designed to recreate the control and response of an acoustic grand piano, the keyboard allows pianists to shape their performances with subtle variations in touch, from delicate passages to powerful chords.

Five adjustable touch sensitivity settings, plus a fixed setting, allow the response to be tailored to individual playing preferences.

Two World-Class Concert Grand Pianos

At the centre of the CLP-835 are the distinctive sounds of two internationally celebrated concert grand pianos.

The Yamaha CFX offers a powerful, clear and expressive concert grand character, while the Bösendorfer Imperial provides a rich, warm Viennese sound.

The CLP-835 also includes two fortepiano voices, allowing players to explore the tonal character of historical instruments associated with the music of Mozart and Chopin.

With 38 voices in total, the instrument provides additional musical variety without compromising its focus on authentic piano performance.

Grand Expression Modeling & Virtual Resonance Modeling

Grand Expression Modeling recreates tonal changes produced by differences in the force and speed with which keys are pressed and released.

Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM) simulates the complex sympathetic vibrations of an acoustic grand piano, including the interaction between strings and soundboard.

Together, these technologies give the CLP-835 a more natural and responsive musical character, helping pianists develop expressive control and greater sensitivity in their playing.

GrandTouch Pedals

The CLP-835 incorporates Yamaha's GrandTouch pedal system, with damper, sostenuto and soft pedals.

The damper pedal supports half-pedalling, while the pedal mechanism has been designed to reproduce more closely the resistance and response experienced when playing an acoustic grand piano.

This gives pianists greater control over sustain, articulation and expression, particularly when working on more advanced repertoire.

Immersive Piano Sound

A 30W × 2 amplifier system powers two 16cm speakers with diffusers, delivering clear, detailed sound with satisfying depth.

The CLP-835's speaker system has been designed to complement its cabinet and reproduce the tonal richness of its concert grand piano voices.

Intelligent Acoustic Control helps maintain a balanced sound at lower volumes, making the instrument suitable for everyday home playing as well as more expressive performances.

Headphone Playing with Binaural Sampling

For private practice, the CLP-835 offers binaural sampling for both the Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial concert grand piano voices.

This recording technique captures the sound from the pianist's listening position, creating a more natural sense of space when playing through headphones.

Yamaha's Stereophonic Optimizer further enhances headphone listening with other compatible piano sounds.

Two headphone sockets allow a teacher and student, or two players, to listen simultaneously.

Bluetooth & Smart Pianist

Bluetooth Audio allows music to be streamed wirelessly through the CLP-835's speaker system, making it easy to listen to recordings or play along with favourite songs.

Bluetooth MIDI provides additional connectivity with compatible applications, while Yamaha's Smart Pianist app offers intuitive access to instrument settings and learning functions.

The CLP-835 also features USB connectivity, including USB TO HOST and USB TO DEVICE, alongside AUX IN and AUX OUT connections for greater flexibility.
