SC3 SILENT Piano™ – Play Whenever You Want

The Yamaha SC3 SILENT Piano™ system gives you the freedom to enjoy a genuine acoustic piano without limiting when you can practise.

Engage Silent mode using the centre pedal and a hammer shank stopper prevents the hammers from striking the strings. Yamaha’s non-contact electromagnetic key sensors continuously detect your playing without physically touching the keys, helping preserve the natural feel and response of the acoustic action.

Your performance is then reproduced through headphones using Yamaha’s advanced digital piano technology. This makes the B20SC3-PWH particularly useful for family homes, evening practice, shared living spaces and anyone who wants the freedom to play without disturbing others.

Two World-Class Concert Grand Piano Sounds

At the heart of the SC3 system are samples of two renowned concert grand pianos: Yamaha’s flagship CFX and the Bösendorfer Imperial.

Both piano voices feature Binaural Sampling, designed to create an immersive and natural listening experience when playing through headphones. Yamaha’s Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM) recreates the complex resonances produced throughout an acoustic piano, while Grand Expression Modeling responds to the nuances of the pianist’s playing.

The result is a silent experience designed to retain much more of the expression and musical involvement of playing the acoustic instrument.

More Than Silent Practice

The SC3 system also expands what you can do with your acoustic piano. Alongside its two flagship concert grand sounds, there are 12 instrument voices in total, together with 256-note polyphony, reverb, brilliance control and Yamaha’s Stereophonic Optimizer for applicable voices.

Bluetooth Audio and MIDI provide additional versatility with compatible devices, while USB connectivity, MIDI song recording and WAV audio recording make it possible to practise, record and develop your playing in ways that aren’t possible with a conventional acoustic piano alone.

There are also two headphone outputs, allowing a teacher and student, or two listeners, to use headphones simultaneously.
