Description

The Roland FP-40 is a premium portable digital piano designed to deliver expressive acoustic piano performance alongside a modern set of features for practice, learning and everyday playing.

At its heart is Roland’s Piano Reality technology, providing rich, responsive piano sound with the natural tonal variation and expression expected from an acoustic instrument. This is paired with the PHA-4 Standard keyboard, offering a weighted hammer action, escapement, Ivory Feel keys and triple-sensor detection for accurate response across everything from quiet practice to more dynamic performances.

A newly engineered stereo speaker system delivers clear, powerful sound with enhanced depth in the lower register, while the slim portable design makes the FP-40 equally suited to the home, teaching environment or performance setup.

Built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Audio/MIDI and USB-C connectivity provide easy access to smartphones, tablets, computers and Roland’s latest learning ecosystem, including the Piano Sphere app developed with Skoove.

Who Is This For?

The Roland FP-40 is ideal for players looking for a high-quality portable digital piano that combines a convincing acoustic piano experience with modern connectivity and learning features.

It’s particularly well suited to progressing pianists, returning players, students and families who want something more substantial than an entry-level portable piano without moving to a full cabinet instrument.

Piano Reality – Authentic Acoustic Piano Expression

The FP-40 features Roland’s Piano Reality technology, designed to reproduce the rich tonal character and responsive behaviour of an acoustic piano.

Rather than simply providing a static piano sound, the instrument responds naturally to changes in touch and dynamics, allowing greater expression as your playing develops.

PHA-4 Standard Weighted Keyboard

The 88-note PHA-4 Standard keyboard provides a progressive hammer action with escapement and Ivory Feel surfaces.

Triple-sensor detection allows the keyboard to respond accurately to repeated notes and subtle changes in playing technique, making the FP-40 suitable for both developing players and more experienced pianists.

Powerful Stereo Speaker System

A newly engineered onboard stereo speaker system delivers clear, room-filling sound with improved depth and richness in the lower register.

This allows the FP-40 to work as a complete standalone piano without requiring additional amplification for everyday home playing.

Modern Connectivity – Wi-Fi, Bluetooth & USB-C

Connectivity is a major part of the FP-40 experience.

Built-in Wi-Fi provides direct access to compatible Roland services, while Bluetooth Audio lets you stream music through the piano’s speakers and Bluetooth MIDI enables wireless communication with compatible music apps.

USB-C connectivity provides a convenient modern connection for computers and compatible smart devices.

Piano Sphere – Motivation Built Around Your Playing

The FP-40 integrates with Roland’s Piano Sphere app, developed with Skoove to provide personalised learning and motivational tools.

The system can help players maintain regular practice through tailored lessons, activity tracking, song content, feedback and progress-based features designed to encourage continued development.

Built for Home, Practice and Performance

At just 14 kg, the FP-40 combines a full 88-note weighted keyboard with a relatively slim and portable chassis.

Use it as a standalone piano, place it on a portable keyboard stand, or create a more traditional home setup with the optional KSF-40 dedicated stand and KPD-70 three-pedal unit.
