Who Is This Keyboard For?
The Yamaha PSR-E483 is ideal for players who want considerably more creative freedom than a straightforward beginner keyboard provides.
Its touch-sensitive keys and huge selection of sounds make it accessible for developing players, while features such as Live Control Knobs, Pitch Bend, DSP effects, sampling, looping and dedicated audio outputs provide plenty to explore as your playing develops.
It's particularly well suited to musicians interested in arranging, songwriting, performing and experimenting with different sounds and musical styles, without moving into the complexity or price of a professional workstation keyboard.
A Huge Range Of Sounds & Styles
With 860 voices, the PSR-E483 provides a broad sound palette covering pianos, electric pianos, organs, strings, guitars, synths and many other instruments. Yamaha's Super Articulation Lite voices add additional character by recreating playing techniques associated with acoustic instruments.
There are also 345 accompaniment styles covering a wide range of musical genres. These provide backing arrangements that respond to the chords you play, effectively giving you an instant backing band for practice, performance or songwriting.
Auto Chord Play can take this further by playing predetermined chord progressions while you concentrate on melodies, improvisation or experimenting with different sounds. Yamaha provides 100 chord progressions, with space for a further 10 user progressions.
Hands-On Performance Control
The PSR-E483 goes considerably beyond selecting a sound and simply playing it.
Two assignable Live Control Knobs allow you to alter characteristics of the sound in real time, while the Pitch Bend wheel gives you expressive control over individual notes. Motion Effects provide instant access to effects such as phasing and tremolo, and the extensive DSP section provides further ways to shape and transform sounds.
Four registration buttons across eight banks also allow favourite combinations of settings to be stored for quick recall.
Sampling, Looping & Recording
Quick Sampling allows short sounds or musical phrases to be captured from several sources, including the AUX input, microphone input, USB audio or WAV files. Samples can then be triggered directly from the keyboard as part of a performance.
The built-in Looper provides another creative tool, allowing musical ideas and phrases to be recorded and repeated while you build additional parts around them.
For more traditional recording, the PSR-E483 can store up to 10 songs with six recording tracks – five melody tracks plus an accompaniment Style track. USB audio recording can also capture performances as WAV files to a compatible USB flash drive.
Ready For Practice, Recording & Performance
The PSR-E483 provides considerably more connectivity than a typical portable keyboard.
A dedicated microphone input lets you connect a compatible microphone, while AUX input can be used with an external audio source. Dedicated L/L+R and R outputs make connection to external amplification or a PA system straightforward.
USB-to-Host uses a modern USB Type-C connection and supports both MIDI and digital audio, while USB-to-Device allows compatible USB flash drives to be connected directly to the keyboard.
The built-in 6W + 6W speaker system provides plenty of sound for home playing and practice, while Yamaha's Mega Boost function can provide additional output when required.
